We have an exciting new opportunity for a highly experienced Client Accountant to join our client in Leeds! The main role involves managing finances for client-held funds, including rents and other charges. Client Accountants are responsible for overseeing cash flow within their portfolios, working within a team to manage client properties efficiently. The department uses MRI and other property management systems to handle client information.

Client Accountant Responsibilities

  • Provide regular reports to clients, including standard reports and customized ones as needed
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of financial reports, such as VAT and client statements
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, delivering excellent customer service
  • Instruct the Treasury Department on various financial matters, including collecting and transferring funds, making account amendments, and processing property-related transactions
  • Manage and oversee service charge funds for each property
  • Maintain databases of property and tenant lease information, ensuring accuracy and organization
  • Coordinate with the Treasury Department and clients to ensure adequate cash flow for property service charges
  • Collaborate with property service charge teams to ensure timely completion of service charges
  • Handle property transfers according to internal guidelines
  • Conduct cash audits on-site and monitor income from cash handling
  • Address outstanding items identified on annual balance sheets
  • Regularly review and maintain cash balances
  • Stay updated on internal procedures related to accounting functions
  • Undertake ad-hoc tasks and projects assigned by team leaders, managers, or clients
  • Manage communication between various teams to ensure efficient finance service delivery for clients

Client Accountant Requirements

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in using financial software and databases, with experience in property management systems being advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for liaising with clients and internal teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the property management sector
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and take on ad-hoc tasks as needed
