Job Description
Recruitment Solutions (NW) Ltd are recruiting on behalf of a well established logistics organisation for an experienced Transport Planner to join a fast moving operations team. This role suits someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, can stay calm under pressure and takes pride in delivering efficient, well organised transport solutions. You will play a key part in coordinating daily operations, balancing customer requirements with cost control and maintaining strong working relationships across the supply chain.
The role
As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for managing transport activity within your allocated area, ensuring services run smoothly, safely and profitably. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure plans are robust, compliant and adaptable to change.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate transport operations to meet service requirements and deadlines
- Optimise planning to maximise efficiency and commercial performance
- Prepare and manage arrangements for specialist movements and trial work
- Anticipate changes in demand and communicate capacity requirements early
- Monitor payloads and performance against agreed targets
- Build productive relationships with hauliers and stakeholders
- Ensure all activity complies with current transport legislation and safety standards
About you
- Proven experience in road haulage or transport planning
- CPC qualification or willingness to work towards one
- Confident working in a high pressure, fast changing environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to reprioritise when needed
- Clear communicator with a collaborative approach
- Proactive problem solver with sound commercial awareness
- Comfortable using transport systems, databases and Microsoft Office
