Our sponsored community organisation, Rochdale Cricket Club, have entered Tesco’s ‘Bags of Help’ initiative in a bid to win a £5,000 grant to go towards their aim of introducing more young people in Rochdale to sport.
The initiative, running until the end of April, is applicable for local companies, schemes and projects – more info here – and works by using the 5p carrier bag charge to fund local projects across the UK.
Rochdale Cricket & Sports Club have a scheme in place to help promote and introduce more sports into the local area for young people, but need the support of local businesses and the community to make this scheme a reality.
How can you help
It’s simple to help support getting more sports into Rochdale.
In your local Tesco store, you will receive a blue counter at the till which you can place into the box of your chosen project.
Rochdale Cricket Club have the box pictured above, so, if you’re passionate about your community and/or sport, by placing the counter towards the Cricket Club’s project you are increasing their chances of receiving the grant and bringing more sports, including cricket and lacrosse, to an increased number of young people in the area.
