Rochdale Town Hall, known widely as “one of the finest municipal buildings in the Country”, is currently undergoing a major facelift – work is currently under way as part of a £22M contract.
Rochdale Development Agency have just put a bid in to the Lottery Fund for £15M to assist with the costs of this development.
One crucial part of this project is the restoration of the ceiling panels in the great hall – the finished article will bring this fantastic room back to it’s former glory. The great hall hosts a number of events including an annual real ale festival, the Rochdale Business Awards and a raft of weddings.
An opportunity has arisen for local (or not local) businesses to help with the costs of the ceiling restoration of which the total cost is estimated at £1/2M – there are 330 ceiling panels and the Magna Carta mural.
Recruitment Solutions (NW) Ltd was the first business to take part in this venture by agreeing to pay £1,000 which will clean 1 ceiling panel.
This picture shows exactly what difference it will make when restored.
