Job Description

We’re partnering with a leading international logistics business that provides end-to-end freight solutions across Europe and beyond. They’re now looking to recruit an experienced Freight Operations Executive to join their Road Freight team based in Wednesbury.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role at the heart of freight operations – perfect for someone who thrives on detail, coordination, and keeping shipments moving efficiently.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage the full lifecycle of all shipments moving in and out of the Wednesbury depot
  • Prepare daily export trailer manifests and send accurate pre-advices
  • Scan all freight leaving the depot, maintaining up-to-date tracking and documentation
  • Update collection and delivery statuses promptly on internal systems
  • Process and chase Proof of Delivery (PODs), ensuring timely updates and accurate records
  • Log daily reports, cross-reference outturn data, and correct discrepancies within set timeframes
  • Liaise with hauliers for quotations on special collections or deliveries
  • Coordinate closely with the internal customs team to ensure correct documentation for transit
  • Prepare driver paperwork to meet customs and compliance requirements
  • Support the Transport and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries
  • Handle customer queries via phone, email, and in person, providing excellent service at all times
  • Conduct same-day transport planning and subcontractor coordination

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in freight forwarding, transport operations, or logistics administration
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise under pressure
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with good written and verbal English skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Positive, proactive approach and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of European groupage or road freight operations is a distinct advantage
