This November, Recruitment Solutions Managing Director, Karen Reynolds, is raising money for Bone Cancer Research Trust by taking on 2,000 burpees in a single month.
The feat, which averages at just over 66 burpees a day, every day, is raising vital funds for the charity who are the only charity dedicated to this disease. The small but national charity are based in Leeds and they fund ground-breaking research, life-saving awareness initiatives and provide dedicated and trustworthy information and support to patients and all their loved ones. The cause operate without government funding so all of their work is made possible through donations.
Every 10 minutes a child, teenager or adult is diagnosed with bone cancer and they face a 5-year chance of survival at little over 50%. This drops even further if the disease is discovered late and has already progressed. Collectively the major cancer research charities spent over £700million on research last year, yet despite having some of the most brutal treatment regimes and poorest of outcomes, just 0.028% was spent on bone cancer – not even close to 1%.
Last year alone, with the support of initiatives like this and the donations they contribute, the Bone Cancer Research Trust were able to commit an incredible £807,824 to pioneering and life-saving research – over four times what all the major UK cancer research charities spent collectively.
Karen’s fundraiser is currently raising money through Facebook (please note, there are never any processing fees when donating on Facebook) with every penny going straight to the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
