Feeling blue today? Here’s why…

If you’ve woken up at any point in the last week or so feeling a little blue and you can’t put your finger on quite why, let us enlighten you.

Today, Monday 18th January 2021, is officially Blue Monday – allegedly the unhappiest day of the year. A number of factors go into making this the unhappiest day of the year – including inclement weather conditions, the length of time from your last payday to your next so soon after Christmas and more – and whilst there is a huge element of this day that has effectively been ‘badged’ by the combination of a university and a PR company, the effects of this time of year on mental health are not to be ignored. Layer on the current climate around the Covid-19 pandemic and you can start to understand why some people will currently be feeling a little low.

Our top tip for managing Blue Monday blues? Reflect & make small steps…

It’s important to remember that this does not last and, crucially, there is no one thing you can to fix however you might feel – it’s all about small steps. Assess the different aspects of your life and give yourself some very small steps to begin to make progress.
