This year we have joined a Back to School community appeal in order to support children at a Rochdale school as they enter summer and lose access to their free school meals.
The Back to School Appeal, started by Manchester-headquartered financial services firm Sedulo, reaches out to families living in poverty across the UK whose children brace themselves for a summer without access to free school meals and learning essentials. The result is the children return to their new school year malnourished and underprepared.
The Appeal is being run with the Michael Carrick Foundation and works closely with schools, charities and carers across the North and London, and connects the families they support with businesses and individuals who donate to create Back to School packs full of learning essentials, food items and a Nando’s voucher to give children independence, Recruitment Solutions have donated an allocation of Back to School packs to Whitakker Moss School based in Rochdale which will be distributed to the children in the school that need them the most.
This year aims to support 1,000 children in those regions, and on working with the Appeal to bring the support to Rochdale.
Recruitment Solutions Director, Gavin Reynolds, said:
“We‘ve had a great working relationship with Sedulo for over 10 years, so as soon as we learned about the opportunity to support their Back to School Appeal we immediately signed up.
“We’ve been proudly based out of Rochdale for over 15 years and have witnessed firsthand the regeneration in the region over the past few years. We’ve also seen the areas of Rochdale that are still waiting for regeneration investment, and with issues like rising living costs that’s where you’ll find the families really need support from appeals like this.
“Whitakker Moss School is a part of the Rochdale community that’s close to the hearts of our team members, and we know some of their children could do with a helping hand. Being able to connect the Appeal with a school in the Rochdale region is something we’re very proud to do.”
